You have heard enough about tooth whitening I believe. But, do you know if you are the right candidate to opt for this or not?
If your permanent teeth have come in then you can qualify for tooth whitening. But wait, your dentist is the right person who can advise you. He/she will assess your oral health and then recommend the whitening method that's the best for you.
Depending on the type and severity of the staining, he/she may suggest one or more of the following treatments:
A professional cleaning to remove external staining caused by food and tobacco.
Use of a whitening toothpaste to help remove surface stains between dental visits.
For extra results, use of a convenient, affordable whitening gel or whitening strips.
Bleaching (in-office or at-home) for more stubborn stains or yellowing.
Veneers or bonding to fix irregular or damaged teeth or to achieve specific results.
So, just make an appointment with your dentist and see those pearly whites emerging out of your yucky yellows!
You may know numerous ways for teeth whitening but still opting for the best is a confusing decision. Don't get confused!
Just go and ask your dentist, which whitening technique should is the best for you. They follow a categorized approach while they recommend you the best option:
Teeth that are yellow respond best to bleaching.
Brown or gray teeth, or teeth striped or mottled from tetracycline or too much fluoride, may not whiten evenly, when bleached.
If you are suffering from periodontal disease or particularly sensitive teeth, you may want to avoid chemical whitening techniques that can irritate tender gums.
Bleaching is not recommended if you have tooth-colored fillings, crowns, caps or bonding in your front teeth — the bleach will not change the color of these materials, making them stand out in your newly whitened smile.
In some cases involving serious tooth or jaw problems, a crown or cap recommended to correct orthodontic problems may also result in a whiter and more appealing smile.
Visiting a dentist is the best available option for oral hygiene. Don't waste time and seek out the bet option for teeth whitening as soon as possible!
Teeth whitening is one of those quick beauty fixes that can totally change your look and personality. The good news is that now you can do it even in the privacy of your own house.
I have compiled some ways that you can try even at your home. Here are some options to have white teeth:
The strips
White-strips available in the market contain 10 per cent hydrogen peroxide, which is pretty powerful.
Go smile system
This bleaching tray system is a bit costlier than the strips, but works great and is easier on sensitive teeth.
Whitening toothpaste
Whitening toothpastes are actually for maintaining your white smile after you've lightened your teeth.
So what are you waiting for? Don't you wanna have white teeth and a healthy smile.
In the past recent years, I feel that tooth whitening has become quite popular with the development of various methods that range from drugstore products to dental visits.
Though I know that there is no medical need to go for whitened teeth, yet this procedure can have a big impact on your self-esteem.
The reason being that severely yellowed or discolored teeth can make you self-conscious and reluctant to smile.
So, now why to become self-conscious when all tooth whitening solutions are readily available.
After all, a good smile is the curve that sets everything straight. So, keep smiling (but please after you have got your teeth whitened!!)!!
Wish to have smile that can steal others sleep! Need not wait any longer!
Till now you are just spending money on your skin care or hair care. Now, there's a new category in beauty!
The next beauty wave to separate you from your money is - smile beautification.
Tooth whitening has become as routine as waxing, hair or nails. I feel it's a great add on.
Rush soon for an appointment!
Don't run away! I just want to discuss the reason for the yellowish tinge on your teeth.
Once and for all, let’s be clear about why and how teeth get stained. Just as your body is protected by a soft skin, teeth are protected with something called enamel which is harder than bone.
Whatever goes through your mouth — food, drinks, smoke — accumulates and forms a pellicle film that coats the enamel of your teeth. It is this pellicle film that gives your teeth the yellowish tinge.
So the next time be careful about what you eat and drink. And make sure that you clean your teeth properly.
You want to restore your pearly whites, but you don't know how to do it.
Follow the action plan given below, to maintain your pearly whites.
- Avoid coffee and red wine as much as possible.
- Quit smoking. It's one of the quickest way to turn teeth yellow.
- Brush your teeth every 12 hours, and floss at least once a day.
- Have your teeth professionally cleaned at least once a year.
- Eat raw veggies. They clean your teeth and are a healthy snack.
Just follow these simple steps and see how your pearly whites are restored!!
If your smile makes your shirt look brighter, I suggest you start using a tooth whitening kit. Don't rely on relatives - they lie. "It's nothing darling, just a mild discoloration. You're beautiful just as you are."
Teeth are not what they may seem to the unaided eye. If your tooth discoloration is caused by the yucky stuff trapped in your enamel pores, whitening kits can help.
So now say 'bye-bye' to your yellow dirty teeth. It's time for beautiful white teeth.
If only to smile, flash a good one! It will bring you immense joy.
Now you might be thinking how to flash a good one? So here is a simple process that can give a beautiful smile. Take a deep breath and don't panic!
That simple process is called Oxidation.
Oxidation breaks down the stains on your teeth into particles small enough to be released from the enamel hive.
Voila! Now you’ve got a beautiful smile!
I was recently going through some studies on teeth whitening products. They boast about a success rate of up to 90% to 95% over a 30 day period.
It has been found that different people respond differently to different teeth whitening products. Some people respond better to the use of whitening toothpastes than others.
Other teeth whitening products & options include bleaching, lasers, teeth whitening gels and various combinations of them.
Over-the-counter Teeth Whitening Products, like toothpastes or whitening gel may be more appropriate for moderate surface stains, like those caused by smoking, tea, colored soft drinks or red wine. For advanced cases, laser treatments are more appropriate.
Just go n try any of them. Let's see how it works for you?
Does the title sound like a figment from some cosmological treatise? Don't worry….it's nothing that scary. Actually, it's just another name for professional teeth whitening.
Whatever goes through your mouth - food, drinks, smoke, etc. - accumulates on your teeth and forms a pellicle film that coats the enamel of your teeth. This pellicle film is what we try to remove when we are brushing. But this film is not that easy to remove.
Mechanical cleaning by brushing can only remove the mechanically attached food and stains, while oral prophylaxis takes out the hardened, cement-like coatings and dark-colored stains from smoking and, yes, coffee and tea (hot or iced)!
So, I recommend twice-a-year (minimum) regular professional cleaning (oral prophylaxis) sessions with your friendly dentist to keep your teeth shining white always.
Let me introduce to you a very fruitful method of teeth whitening. It is, in-office whitening/ bleaching, also known as laser, power, chair-side or super mega bleaching for all seasons. On a serious note, it has been given so many names because, seriously, it gives the best results. Only dentists are allowed to use this whitening system.
Before tooth whitening, professional cleaning is necessary. Fillings and the health of your gums are carefully checked. The procedure includes the application of a protective barrier over the gums. Most dentist-administered systems use 15-35 percent hydrogen peroxide gels activated by a high-intensity laser to start off the bleaching chemical reaction.
The number of sessions may vary according to your dentists’ discretion. This process can achieve results of about four to eight shades lighter after only one hour of treatment.
So what are you waiting for? Just go for it and turn your teeth into glittering pearls.
If you don't want to take all those rounds to the dentists to get your teeth whitened, then try the at-home whitening method.
At-home bleaching includes the use of trays to hold the bleaching gel in place. Make sure your at-home system includes a barrier gel to prevent the bleaching agent from getting to your gums. The tray is worn for at least one hour while watching TV or reading a book.
For oxidation at home, apply a 9 per cent hydrogen peroxide or 10-20 per cent carbamide peroxide bleach gel to your gums. Carbamide peroxide splits into hydrogen peroxide and urea (hydrogen peroxide being the active whitening ingredient) in the mouth. Small concentrations of hydrogen peroxide work at par with higher concentrations of carbamide peroxide (3.6 percent hydrogen peroxide is equivalent to 10 percent carbamide peroxide).
Most whitening occurs after one or two weeks. In difficult cases, the process can take up to six weeks.
The system is highly effective, or should I say surprisingly!!
If you think that by brushing and professional cleaning, you can get those glittering teeth, you are wrong. You need oxidation therapy as well to get those glittering teeth.
No matter how regularly you remove the mechanically attached stains, tinier particles seep deep into the enamel surface from where they cannot be removed by brushing. Even professional cleaning doesn't help.
At this point, your teeth acquire a yellowish tinge and whenever you smile it shows! Did I scare you? Now, take a deep breath and don’t panic. May I introduce to you tooth whitening.
Tooth whiteners are chemicals which get inside the enamel of our teeth to set off a reaction called oxidation. Oxidation breaks down the stains into particles small enough to be released from the enamel hive.
And what you get is shining, white teeth!
